Experience
I have taught grades 6-8 for two years, and am currently in my fourth year teaching grades 9-12. I am certified as a Teacher of English in both NY and NJ state. I teach in low-income areas where students often have trouble with motivation, focus and success. I am well-trained in many different reading and writing programs that help to inspire young minds. I currently teach an AVID(study skills) class, a literacy strategies class, an English I class, and an English IIIH class. I wrote the entire curriculum for the Elizabeth school district grade 9 on my own. I have a 99.8% HSPA passing rate for the Juniors that I teach; they are often times 4-6 grade levels behind where they need to be to score proficient. Previously, I was a tutor and an Assistant Director of Education for the HUNTINGTON LEARNING CENTER in Verona, New Jersey. I tutored students that ranged from age 5-adult. I am well-versed in SAT materials and the skills necessary for a child to reach a target score. I am absolutely dedicated to student achievement and am passionate about creating a spark for education in students.
